difficult market at the BBAG Yearling Sale

but pleasant results for Stauffenberg Bloodstock

STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK consigned seven yearlings at the BBAG Yearling Sale and five were sold.

The most expensive was ZEGNA (Shirocco-ZEPHYRINE), a filly Boerje Olsson paid €55.000 for on behalf of Swedish owners Ascot AB. The filly will go into training with Frederik Reuterkjold, who celebrated classic vicories with her brother ZENATO, a colt who became Champion 3yo in Scandinavia.

Next was GOLDEN ERA (Three Valleys-GENEVRA) for whom Sylvain Vidal bid €52.000 on behalf of Gerard Augustin-Normand, now one of the biggest owners in France. The filly received a major update in the afternoon, as her 3yo sister GOLDEN WHIP won a Stakes on the nearby racecourse. After LE HAVRE won him the French Derby, he has bought at various levels and has more than 100 horses in training. He liked an other yearling from the draft and so bought for €22.000 an unnamed colt by Verglas out of FIREDANCE, a brother to two winners from two runners.

€30.000 were laid out by German trainer Werner Baltromei for an undisclosed client. But the trainer seems to like the offspring of the mare TORBAY, as the filly TOUCH OF HONOUR by Sholokhov is the third product out of the mare he has purchased.

German International´s Roger Alles purchased on behalf of Bea and Till Grewe an unnamed colt by Elandim, the first foal out of Stakes placed SHADES OF BEIGE. They have horses in training among others with Waldemar Hickst, who trained their first Blacktype winner this year with the filly RONJA.

The average of the yearlings consigned by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK fetched €37.400 and was significant above the average of the sale, which was €25.927. As the average of the sale includes the very high rate of buy backs, which were especially a good proportion of the better prizes, it says a lot about the good result of the consignment.
