The most important sale in Germany is the BBAG Yearling Sale which takes place on the Friday before the Grosser Preis von Baden-Baden during the “Grosse Rennwoche” at Iffezheim close to Baden-Baden since a few years. 252 yearlings were catalogued of which 180 were sold. They averaged €43.719 (GBP40.234).
STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK ended as 3rd leading consignor after having sold 9 of 11 yearlings offered for different owners with an average of €60.333 (GBP55.524), considerable higher than the average of the sale. The most expensive of these was Lot 195 a colt by KODIAC which was purchased for €200.000 (GBP184.060) by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Underbidders were Peter & Ross Doyle. Overall everybody was more or less pleased as there was a lack of some important buyers especially at the higher end. However all yearlings sold by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK were purchased by foreign buyers, not a single one will enter training in Germany. They were sold to England, France, Hong Kong, Sweden, Switzerland and Czechia.
