A magnificent Munich success crowns a remarkable career in Europe’s final Gr.1 of the season
SANTAGADA became STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK’s second individual Gr.1 winner of the 2026 season with a memorable victory in the Grosser Allianz Preis von Bayern at Munich, the final Gr.1 race of the European Flat season. She follows MALTESE CROSS, who gave us such a special moment when winning the Grand Prix de Paris, Gr.1, at ParisLongchamp in July.
The four-year-old daughter of SOLDIER HOLLOW, trained by Peter Schiergen for Gestüt Park Wiedingen, showed all her class and determination under Bauyrzhan Murzabayev. Coming from behind, she produced a sustained challenge to catch the front-running Global Health and win the €155,000 feature over 2,400 metres by half a length, with the French challenger Tajlina finishing third.
This was SANTAGADA’s seventh Group victory and her first at the highest level, a richly deserved reward for a mare whose toughness and consistency have given her connections so much pleasure. A Group winner at two, three and four, she had already added the T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis, Gr.2, at Baden-Baden in September to her impressive collection of five Gr.3 successes. Her victory in Munich now provides the crowning achievement.
Bred by Gestüt Höny-Hof, SANTAGADA was prepared by STAUFFENBERG BLOODSTOCK at their farm at SCHLOSSGUT ITLINGEN for the BBAG Yearling Sale, but a technical issue with her registration prevented her from taking her intended place in the sale. To have played a part in her early development and now see her succeed at the highest international level is an immense source of pride for our team.
For an operation working with a relativly samll number of horses, a season like this means a great deal. Our ambition is to give every horse the attention, care and preparation it needs to fulfil its potential. Results such as these are a wonderful reward for the daily commitment of everyone involved, both at home and throughout the horses’ subsequent careers.
Warmest congratulations to Gestüt Park Wiedingen, breeder Gestüt Höny-Hof, Peter Schiergen and his team, Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and everyone connected with this exceptional mare.
Thank you, SANTAGADA, for another unforgettable day.
